My son Lachie and I met Norm Norlander, the inventor and manufacturer of the remarkable Nor-Vise tying system at the Federation of Fly Fishers Conclave in Colorado. Apart from being a clever engineer Norm is a delightful man and an entertaining teacher.
I stood watching him tie flies with my mouth open and I couldn't get the credit card out fast enough to buy Lachie a new vice. In a former life I too was a design engineer and this was such a simple concept, why hadn't i, or anyone else, thought of this?
